Steps to become a behind the wheel driving instructor
You are required to take a behind the wheel certification course. There are a few options on where to take this course:
Indian Hills certification course is now open for registration. As a reminder, this is the required class that you must take before you are able to become a Behind the Wheel instructor.
There are two required sections of the course that must be completed concurrently: Driver Education BTW Practicum and Driver Education BTW Theory. The third section, Driver Education Classroom Educator Endorsement, is available for licensed K-12 educators to add to their existing teaching license (optional).
If you have any questions regarding the course or need assistance registering, please contact one of the instructors, Andy Nelson, at [email protected] or (641) 242-0600.
If you have any questions regarding Street Smarts employment or tuition reimbursement, please contact our office at [email protected] or 515-279-1112.
The tuition for both sections is $1,268. We understand that this is a large cost and will be offering up to a $600 reimbursement once you have started to work for Street Smarts. Employees will receive a $300 reimbursement after driving with 30 students, and an additional $300 after 60 total students.
